I would imagine many of you are interested in this daily devotional on God's characteristics and names, because you already know the One True God but want a better understanding of Him. Maybe some of you are just interested in what someone would teach about the One True God. But whatever your reason, I am glad you are taking the time to do it. You will not regret it.

In this devotional you will learn such things as: Who Jesus Christ really is. Why our world is full of destruction, even though God the Creator made everything good. That God is the source of all life, but He took on death so you could have life again. The Trinity is explained. You will also discover that God is the self-existent One that needs no one, but He wants to communicate with you, and to love you. In this devotional you will study many more interesting and inspiring things about the One True God.

There are books and shows out there that fictionally portray the One True God. Since some of these are popular, I would imagine people are interested in God. This is a good thing. However, it can be very counterproductive to your Christian faith if the information about the God of the Bible is incorrect. Knowing God, like Daniel in the Old Testament did, is so important. That's why in this daily devotional, I describe God from many Bible passages, so that you can read and study for yourself Who God is.

Daniel said, "Let the name of God be blessed forever and ever, for wisdom and power belong to Him. It is He who changes the times and the epochs; He removes kings and establishes kings; He gives wisdom to wise men and knowledge to men of understanding. It is He who reveals the profound and hidden things; He knows what is in the darkness, and the light dwells with Him." Daniel 2:20-22 NASB®

Many people throughout the world believe in a god or in multiple gods, but they don't believe in the One True God as He revealed Himself in the Jewish and Christian scriptures, the Bible. And how can you believe in the right God, if you don't know Him?

...So that you may know and believe Me. And understand that I am He. Before Me there was no God formed, And there will be none after Me. I, even I, am the LORD, And there is no savior besides Me. Isaiah 43:10-11 NASB®

Why is it so important to know the One True God? Knowing and consequently believing in the One True God determines whether you will go to Heaven or Hell. John 17:3 and John 3:16 tell us eternal life comes from knowing and believing in the One True God, who is Jesus Christ. Do you believe in Jesus Christ?

This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent... For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. NASB®

Where do you go to get to know the One True God? Do you go to God's own autobiography, the Bible, or to some person's writing? A friend of mine, who is in heaven now, said, "We don't have to make up stories about how wonderful God is, because He is!" If you are willing to take the time to learn God through His Book, the Bible, you will get to know and experience our wonderful God.

God commands you to know and love Him. (Jeremiah 9:23-24; Mark 12:29-30) We need to not just know of God, but to really know Him! I know of the President of the United States; but I really know my husband, Tom, who I have been married to for over 40 years. God wants to be known as I know my husband. In Isaiah 54:5-8, God is described as a husband, Who loves and quickly forgives. As Christians, the more we get to know God and comprehend His love for us, the more passionately we will want to trust and love Him. Do you just know of God or do you really know Him?

Life Application:

Many of our favorite movies and books have happily ever after endings. These endings come about because good conquers evil, and true love wins the day. A happily ever after story that will be in theatres as I write this is the new Disney movie, Beauty and the Beast. These happily ever after stories, are thought of as enchanted make believe tales.

What many people don't realize, or maybe just do not understand, is that the One True God did create us all to live happily ever after. God's true story goes like this: Centuries ago in the beginning of time, the One True God personally created the very good world for humankind to live forever in. However, evil temporarily triumphed since Adam and Eve chose the evil villain, Satan, over the loving Creator. But not all was lost. The One True God had an eternal plan to conquer evil, so His true love for us can reign without end; and of course, we will live happily ever after with Him. If you are wondering where I found this beautiful tale as old as time, well it is found in God's Book, the Bible, which is as true as time itself.

This true happily ever after story about the One True God is just the beginning. There is so much more to learn about God. Write out a sentence committing to prayerfully doing this daily devotional on Who the One True God is. If you are diligent to look up and read ALL the Bible verses in this devotional, it will give you a great start in getting to truly know the One True God. I promise you, you won't regret it!
