God Created You Beautiful to Him
Day 9

God's works are beautiful

How do we know God created us to be beautiful? Creation. From the back of our house in Tucson, we can see the Catalina Mountains. Granted they aren't the Teton Mountains nestled by Jackson Hole, Wyoming. But like all mountains they can take your breath away every time you look at them. Only God could take something so big and plain and make it so eye catching, so beautiful, as it changes throughout the day. The uniqueness that God formed in each person, flower, bird, animal, snowflake and so on, ascribes a special beauty to each.

There is a funny but truthful application from mountains: I would say, most women including myself, think of ourselves as bigger than we should be and plainer than we would like to be. If God makes mountains that are big and plain but so beautiful, of course, He has made you even more beautiful and breathtaking. You are His beloved wonder woman!

For the mountains may depart and the hills be removed, but my steadfast love (and favor) shall not depart from you…” says the LORD, who has compassion on you. Isaiah 54:10 ESV®

Be honest. How do you feel about yourself?

You are beautiful to God

We all want to be beautiful to at least one person, and we are. We are beautiful to God. But how do we know this for certain? Think of the garden of Eden in Genesis chapter two.

God spoke everything into being, but He took the time to form (yatsar) Adam the first man, and made/build (banah) Eve the first woman. God formed Adam like an artist who had an idea and then sculptured it with His hands (Genesis 2:7). The word used to make Eve means to build/fashion something of importance (Genesis 2:22). God formed Adam out of clay. God fashioned Eve from human flesh. Creation was formed by God's spoken word, but humankind was formed and fashioned by God's loving hands. You are important to God! You are His special creation. God created you just right, so He would automatically, can't help it, love and delight in you. You are beautiful to Him!

The LORD your God is in your midst, A victorious warrior. He will exult over you with joy, He will be quiet in His love, He will rejoice over you with shouts of joy. Zephaniah 3:17 NASB1995®

Since God created you, do you think you are beautiful?

God's power and wisdom made you just right

God is all-powerful and all-wise, so naturally He created everything just right, even you (Jeremiah 10:12). God made us just right for Him and the plans He has for us. Yet, you and I can feel God just got stuck with us, and since He is love and loving, of course He would love us and use us. My husband and I have made some mistakes when it comes to buying cars. We have bought a few lemons throughout our lives that left us on the side of various roads. You are not a lemon to God! You may think you aren't as smart as you need to be, since everyone else in the family is a physicist, but God made you smart in what He wants you to do.

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope." Jeremiah 29:11 ESV®

To consider: Do you feel like a mistake? Well, God in His power and great wisdom made you exactly the way He wanted you. God doesn’t make mistakes. (Psalm 62:11-12, 104:24, 139:13-16; Jeremiah 1:4-5, 10:12)

Life Application

You are loved and unique

God made each of us unique. No one throughout history is like you. God made everyone's DNA different because everyone gets a random mix of the genes from their mother and father, and that random mix is never the same. Even identical twins have tiny differences in their DNA, because during our development and lifetime we all get a few tiny mutations and those are different in each person.

I was talking to a woman at the pool. I always meet interesting people while working out, walking, or swimming. The woman said, "My grandmother was four feet ten inches tall and had to wear children's shoes her whole life. Needless to say, my grandmother found it hard to buy adult looking shoes. But my father, my grandmother's son, ended up being six feet four inches tall. Even though everyone in our family was quite unique, there was a sweet love between them."

You are God's unique loved woman. Specially made for what God has for you. A woman wondered why she was the only one in her family with blue eyes, until she became a missionary in Africa and realized the people she was giving medical care to, warmed up to her fast because they loved her sky eyes (Psalm 139:13-16).

Genesis chapter two gives a living example on how exceptional to God, humankind is. God lovingly formed humankind and planted a special garden to place His beloved people in. Read Genesis 2. Make this chapter personal to you by summarizing why you are special to God from this chapter. Example from my heart: I love trees. It is such a heartening thought to me that God lovingly took the time to plant trees in the garden that Adam and Eve would enjoy and get nourishment from. This act by God tells me that He ordained things around me to give me joy and to provide for me.

Reflect on Jeremiah 1:4-5, 10:12.
